Hi all,
After a long and tiring journey via Amsterdam-Dubai-Djibouti-Galkaayo, i have finally arrived safely in Garowe, Puntland!! yooopppiiie!
I arrived in Garowe three days ago and i must say it is a breathtakingly beautiful place and I have already started "going native".
I have met some of the organizations whose staff i will be supporting in project cycle management and capacity building. I have met their staff individually and i must say that I will learn a lot from these very friendly and inspiring people.
What has really caught my eye and what will leave an everlasting impression on me is the high level of trust and acceptability among the people here. Complete strangers offer a helping hand, there is a strong feeling of family and of bondage and I am enjoying every bit of all this love and affection!!
But not all is rosy and on a silver plate; there is much suffering in Puntland- especially among the impoverished minorities and internally displaced peoples (IDPs). Also, a lot of children are roaming about the streets begging or street vending. It’s amazing how big the gap is between the very wealthy and the very poor- a contrast I thought I would not find here.
Garowe is a fast growing economy and this fact manifests itself in many ways than one in this booming society; the intellectual and entrepreneurial infrastructure that is rapidly growing and being put in many exciting places all over town is very gender friendly!
More, soon…until then enjoy these pictures!!

ha my dear.
